VENUE FOR
2008
The 2008 conference is being hosted by Gwent Beekeepers’
Association. It will be held in Abergavenny at a residential
conference centre, The Hill. The Hill has 45 double, twin and
single rooms, plus three single rooms adapted for those with
disabilities. All rooms are en suite with a shower, and a few
have a bath. All have tea/coffee making facilities and a
television. The Hill has a licensed bar and separate dining
room with dramatic views towards the Blorenge mountain. It has
its own grounds, including a beautiful restored Victorian walled
garden.
Abergavenny has very easy access from the motorway network,
particularly from the Midlands (via the M5/M50) and from the M4
corridor. The Hill is about ½ mile north of the town centre
and has ample free car parking. Abergavenny also has a railway
station with connections at Newport, Hereford, Shrewsbury and Crewe
to main line services. The Hill is about 1½ miles by taxi from
the station. Its address is Pen-y-Pound, Abergavenny NP7
7RP.
Abergavenny is in a stunning setting on the River
Usk, surrounded by three distinctive mountains. There is lots
to do in the surrounding area for non-beekeeping partners, and even
die-hard beekeepers may want to extend their stay to enjoy the area
more fully. If you want to stay extra nights at The Hill,
please contact their reception on 01495 333777.
Gwent BKA is Registered Charity No.
